Easy DIY Turmeric Lip Balm | Natural Remedy for Chapped Lips
Say goodbye to chapped lips with this simple, natural turmeric lip balm. Beeswax and almond oil lock in moisture, while turmeric supports calm, comfortable lips. It’s quick to make, budget-friendly, and perfect for everyday lip care or gifting.
Ingredients List
- 2 tbsp almond oil
- 1 tbsp beeswax pastilles (or finely chopped beeswax)
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder (start with 1/4 tsp to reduce staining, then adjust)
- Optional: 2–3 drops vitamin E oil
Recipe
- Set up a double boiler. Add beeswax and almond oil; warm gently, stirring until beeswax is fully melted and the mixture looks clear.
- Remove from heat. Stir in turmeric powder (and vitamin E, if using) until evenly dispersed and golden.
- Immediately pour into clean lip balm tubes or 15–30 ml tins/jars.
- Let cool at room temperature for 30–60 minutes until firm.
Application
- Apply a thin layer to lips as needed for comfort and hydration.
- Store in a cool, dry place away from heat and sunlight.
Why This Balm Works
- Turmeric: Traditionally used to calm and comfort skin; adds a warm golden tint.
- Beeswax: Creates a protective barrier that helps seal in moisture.
- Almond oil: Lightweight, nourishing oil that softens and conditions lips.
Tips & Variations
- Start low on turmeric: Use 1/4 tsp first to minimise temporary staining; increase to 1/2 tsp if you like a richer hue.
- Texture tweak: For a firmer balm (pocket-safe), add 1–2 tsp extra beeswax; for a silkier glide, reduce beeswax slightly.
- Optional scent: A tiny drop of vanilla or sweet orange (lip-safe) adds a soft aroma.
- Shelf life: Use within 6 months; label your tins with date and ingredients.
